The European Placemaking Academy (EPA) is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership that empowers educators, community leaders and adult learners, NGOs, and municipalities to create more inclusive, participatory and sustainable public spaces through placemaking.
Placemaking is a collaborative approach to improving the places where we live, work and meet. By bringing together local communities, public authorities and civil society, it transforms public spaces into environments that strengthen social cohesion, democratic participation and a sense of belonging.
Over 26 months, the project will develop innovative learning resources, practical tools and international training opportunities that support organisations in designing and delivering participatory placemaking initiatives. Through research, knowledge exchange and pilot activities across Europe, partners will share methodologies and good practices while promoting active citizenship and inclusive urban development.
The European Placemaking Academy is implemented by organisations from Germany, Belgium, Portugal and Norway, combining expertise in non-formal education, urban development, community engagement and participatory governance.
Together, we aim to strengthen the capacity of organisations working in adult education and contribute to more democratic, resilient and people-centred cities across Europe.
